Pool Cost Guide

Gunite Pool Cost (2026)

A gunite (or shotcrete) pool is built in place: the hole is dug, rebar is tied into the shape, concrete is sprayed over the steel, then tile, coping and an interior finish go on. Any shape, depth, spa, ledge or water feature is possible, which is why most custom pools in the Southwest are concrete.

Published project ranges including a basic deck run about $65,000 to $175,000. Our bottom-up model for a 15×30 white-plaster pool with basic equipment and a 600 square foot deck sums to $42,500 to $108,000 in Las Vegas, but because summing the cheapest option on every line understates real projects, the estimator shows a floor of $70,000, which is where the smallest package from a Southern Utah builder starts.

  • Any shape, size and depth
  • Spas, tanning ledges, beach entries and rock work integrate structurally
  • Finishes from plaster to pebble and glass tile
  • Longest track record in desert climates

Trade-offs

  • Longest build: typically 8–14 weeks of site work
  • Plaster finishes need replastering every 10–15 years
  • Most labor-sensitive, so prices vary most by builder
  • Rough surfaces use more chemicals than fiberglass

Frequently asked

How much does a gunite pool cost?
Published project ranges with a basic deck run about $65,000 to $175,000 nationally. In Las Vegas and St. George, our estimator shows roughly $70,000 to $110,000 for a 15×30 white-plaster pool with basic equipment and a 600 square foot deck, before a spa, heater, cover or fence.
Gunite or shotcrete, what is the difference?
Both are concrete sprayed over steel. Gunite is mixed dry and hydrated at the nozzle; shotcrete arrives wet-mixed. Builders use both, and the price difference is small compared with size, finish and features.
Why do gunite quotes vary so much between builders?
Concrete pools are mostly labor: digging, steel, shooting, finishing. Crew quality, schedule and overhead differ by company, and every custom design is priced from scratch. That is why we show a range and name one licensed builder for your ZIP.
How long does a gunite pool take?
Plan on 8 to 14 weeks of construction after permits, longer in peak season (March through June in St. George, nearly year-round in Las Vegas). Permit and HOA review can add a month.
What about caliche and rock?
Caliche is common across the Las Vegas Valley and much of St. George. Light caliche runs about $85–120 per cubic yard to excavate, heavy caliche $150–225, and a typical surcharge is $3,000 to $8,000. We show it as a separate risk line, not inside the base range.
