Pool Cost Guide

How much does an inground pool cost in Nevada?

Southern Nevada labor runs slightly above the US average, caliche is in almost every yard, and the state has some of the strictest residential pool contract rules in the country. Those three things shape the price ranges below.

Statewide, a medium inground pool with a basic deck runs about $57K – $108K installed.

Verify the builder on the NSCB

NRS 624.720 makes it unlawful to advertise as a contractor without a Nevada State Contractors Board license, and every licensed contractor's advertising must show the company name and license number. Search the NSCB by name or number, check that the classification covers swimming pools (C-10 Landscape Contracting, A-10 Commercial and Residential Pools, or a related classification), note the monetary limit on the license, and confirm there are no open complaints.

Your contract protections under NRS 624.900–.965

Nevada regulates residential pool contracts specifically. The down payment is capped at $1,000 or 10% of the contract price, whichever is less; the contract must spell out a payment schedule tied to work actually completed, start and completion dates, and the plans and specifications; and you have a right to a written notice of your protections. If a builder asks for a large deposit up front, that is a red flag.

Caliche, permits and timing

Caliche, a cemented calcium carbonate layer, underlies most of the Las Vegas Valley. Standard excavation runs about $35–80 per cubic yard; light caliche $85–120 and heavy caliche $150–225, with a typical surcharge of $3,000 to $8,000 on a medium pool. Ask the builder how caliche is handled in the contract (allowance, unit price, or included).

Clark County charges a valuation-based permit fee plus $110 for equipment and plumbing; Henderson charges a $712 pool/spa permit plus a $772 plan check. Pools are built year-round in Southern Nevada, but summer shotcrete and plaster need early-morning scheduling, and the spring queue is longest.

Frequently asked

What is the average cost of a pool in Las Vegas?
Our model shows roughly $70,000 to $110,000 for a 15×30 gunite pool with basic equipment and a 600 square foot deck, and about $55,000 to $120,000 for a 14×28 fiberglass pool. Caliche, a spa, heater and cover are extra.
How much deposit can a Nevada pool builder ask for?
No more than $1,000 or 10% of the contract price, whichever is less, under NRS 624.940. Later payments must track completed work.
How do I verify a pool contractor in Nevada?
Use the Nevada State Contractors Board license search. Check active status, a pool-related classification, the license monetary limit, and complaint history.
Is a pool fence required in Clark County?
Yes. Clark County, Las Vegas, Henderson and North Las Vegas all require a code-compliant barrier (typically 48 inches with self-closing, self-latching gates) or an approved safety cover.
How much does caliche add?
Typically $3,000 to $8,000 on a medium pool, and over $15,000 for heavy caliche or hard rock. We show it as a separate risk line rather than hiding it inside the base range.
